This website was created as a resource for information about walking and biking in West Contra Costa County. We have collected resources on safety, routes, planning, and events and put them all in one easy to access site. 511.org, the Bay Area travel resource, has recently added a bike section. It offers information about cycling, taking bikes on transit, and offers maps of bike routes in the Bay Area, including West Contra Costa County. Perhaps the best feature is an interactive point to point bike route planner. This works much like auto based mapping system but it selects routes with cyclists in mind. Routes are more direct, using bike paths when possible, and avoiding steep hills. The maps even have the option to show slope.
